Workplace Description
The Department of French at the Centre for Languages and Literature in Lund offers teaching at all levels, from beginner courses to master's level advanced courses. The department is part of Section 3 at the Centre for Languages and Literature, which also includes the other Romance languages, Modern Greek, and Classical languages. Cross-disciplinary collaboration is an important part of our work. The focus of French language teaching is on language skills, both oral and written, as well as orientation regarding linguistic, cultural, literary, and societal conditions in France and other French-speaking countries. The teaching team in French consists of a professor, several senior lecturers and assistant professors, as well as doctoral students, who participate in the teaching in various ways.

Responsibilities and Duties
You will be responsible for teaching in one of the beginner courses in French, as well as at undergraduate and/or advanced levels. The specific course components include grammar, written language skills, and French linguistics.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- A completed advanced degree in French or equivalent knowledge, as well as other competence that is significant with regard to the subject orientation and the duties included in the employment.
- Documented pedagogical competence.
- Completion of higher education pedagogy education of at least five weeks or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way.
- Ability to teach in both Swedish and French.
Qualifications that are meritorious for the position are:
- Good subject knowledge relevant to the content of the position and the duties included.
- Good pedagogical ability, which implies a good ability to conduct and develop teaching and other pedagogical activities at different levels. This also means that you can work with varying teaching methods.
- Very good professional experience or other relevant experience for the position.
- Personal qualities that are significant for performing the duties well.

The position is a temporary appointment as an assistant professor (adjunkt) in French with a workload of 50% during the period from August 17 to December 15, 2026.

About the Centre for Languages and Literature
The Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL) is Sweden's largest institution focusing on languages, linguistics, literary studies, and area studies. SOL offers approximately 500 standalone courses, complemented by a growing number of degree programs at undergraduate and advanced levels. With its 36 subjects and around 30 doctoral programs, SOL forms a solid unit with breadth and depth in education and research, distinguished by both national and international visibility. SOL is led by a board where the Dean is the chairperson. In addition, there are three Associate Deans with specific operational responsibilities. SOL has approximately 300 employees and 8,000 students, of whom about a hundred are doctoral students.
